9th International Conference
Photosynthesis and Hydrogen Energy Research for Sustainability – 2018
December 17-18, 2018. Baku, Azerbaijan
in memory of Prof. Jalal A. Aliyev
Special Meeting Dedicated to the Jubilee Celebration on the 90th Birthday of Prof. Jalal A. Aliyev
The conference will be held to honor the memory and achievements of renowned scientist and public figure, academic Jalal Aliyev, who passed away on 1 February 2016.
The scientific activity of academic Jalal Aliyev was devoted to the study of the theoretical bases of photosynthetic productivity of agricultural plants, especially wheat. Under his leadership, complex studies of photosynthesis and photorespiration were conducted. These studies cover the physiological, biophysical, biochemical and molecular genetic bases of plant productivity, as well as the structural and functional organization at all stages and forms of plant life from the molecular level to the whole plant level.
- A distinguished and respected plant biologist of our time
- A pioneer of photosynthesis research in Azerbaijan
- Deeply involved in dynamic research on physiological, biophysical, biochemical, and molecular-genetic aspects of plant productivity
- A unique contributor to our understanding of photorespiration
- Instigated the development of new directions of research, namely molecular biology, molecular genetics, gene and cellular biotechnology, mathematical and computational biology, and bioinformatics as applied to crop productivity in Azerbaijan
- A founder of the Institute of Molecular Biology & Biotechnologies, ANAS
- Much loved and respected by students and staff; a great human being
